When a small deed brings freedom and new experiences

Yesterday, we saw that our colleagues have big hearts. Jakub Hajtol and René Mitro stopped at the Center for Children and Families on Uralská Street in Košice to please one of the children.

It all started quite simply – with one thought and one email.

"I had a bicycle at home that I hardly used. I was considering selling it, but in the end I decided that it would be better if it could really make someone happy," says Jakub Hajtol from Finishing and Tin Mill.

"After a short communication with Slavka Tvrdoňová from Public Affairs, we managed to find the right place – the Center for Children and Families. And from that moment on, it was no longer just about the idea, but about concrete steps. My colleague René Mitro from DZ Studená valcovňa was also involved in the story, he prepared the bike – checked it, set it up and gave it a „second life“. The result was the moment when Vaneska took it over.  And that's exactly what it's all about - not about big gestures, but about small decisions that make sense. About people who are willing to go the extra mile. About the fact that the values that are often talked about can also be lived in practice – naturally, without big words. In the end, I was perhaps happier than the one to whom the bike was gifted. And it is moments like this, in my opinion, that best reflect the values on which our society is based – helping others, interest in the community and willingness to gothe extra mile,"  adds Jakub.

Vaneska was very much looking forward to the bike, she already knows how she will use it during the summer holidays. Terézia Kudlatová from Center for Children and Families, says about her: "The aunts from the group chose our Vaneska because she is a very smart and caring girl who has her dreams. She is musically and athletically gifted. In the group, she helps with cleaning, cooking, baking or helping with younger children. Soon she will take entrance exams to secondary schools. Her dream is to become a successful masseuse."

Maybe it's just a bicycle. But for some, it means movement, freedom and new experiences. And for all of us, a reminder that you can always help. Just get started.
