For more than 40 years, Ján Kostišče has been faithful to the repair of tracks and switches. And that we have enough of them in the company.... Interestingly, the siding track has a total length of 232 km, of which 22 km is a wide gauge and 890 switches of various shapes and superstructures must be included.
His current job is to take care of the railway superstructure and substructure and the electrical equipment located on the siding. He works as an executive manager for tracks and electrical "I manage three championship sections. I solve everyday problems together with my colleagues. This is mostly manual work. With fewer employees, a lot of planning and logistics is required. Rails are like arteries and veins, when one of them gets clenched, it's a problem. We take care of the rails, which are as long as the route from Košice to Žilina, and it is difficult to maintain a track with 23 people," says Ján Kostiščše.
During his long career, he led work teams on line maintenance and trained many employees in this field. His work is still fulfilling, despite the difficult conditions that he and his team have to manage during rail repairs – especially under blast furnaces and steel plants – so that production on metallurgical aggregates is trouble-free.
"Jano already remembers a lot, even though he is not yet old enough to retire. He joined the company in 1983 and was not even 18 years old at the time. In more than 40 years, he has experienced various transformations of the company – from socialist, through the beginnings of private capital to its current form. In his case, we could say that he was always flexible and tried to fulfill the tasks with which he was entrusted. The people he worked with were also different – on the one hand, management, on the other hand, simpler people who often did not even finish their primary education. Completing a task, or convincing people on one side or the other, is not easy in such cases. He was almost always able to handle it excellently and we rely on these qualities of his even today," said Peter Balog, director of DZ Doprava, about his colleague.
His family is proud of him. He has two children and is very happy about his two grandsons, with whom he helps his children whenever they need it. After all, willing grandparents are priceless.
The Loyalty at Work award is also wished to him by his colleagues, who have already managed to congratulate him in advance. As he says, he works in a very good team and has been lucky to have a good team all his life. Sometimes they met more often, outside of work, even together with their families. Today, outside of work, he meets his team only occasionally. "No one has time anymore, but we meet in a narrow circle all the time," he says. He likes to remember his first leader, Milan Chudý, who was his role model for a long time.
Ján Kostišče never considered changing his job: "At least I don't remember it. My work fulfills me and is also my hobby. It is a diverse job, demanding on human capital and logistics."
