All major vaulting clubs abroad and already in Slovakia have a movable simulator. At present, it is an indispensable tool for the preparation of trainees at the top level and for the full-fledged development of their talents. The vaulting club TJ Slávia UVMP (University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy) in Košice - vaulting decided to improve the training of its trainees by purchasing just such a simulator.
The basis of the trainer is a metal structure covered with wood, chipboard and imitation leather or plastic. It is powered by a motor that allows it to be used continuously. The frequency of the gallop jump is adjusted as needed. The trainer simulates the gallop of a horse and thus allows you to improve the training process, which will significantly enable the performance growth of riders.
We learned more from Marián Pavľak from OZ TJ Slávia UVMP – vaulting.
"First of all, we are really grateful that thanks to your support, we were able to purchase the simulator. As we want to use it to the highest possible extent, we had to find new premises to place it. In the gym, where we trained until recently, it was not possible to increase the number of training hours. We have finally found suitable premises with the necessary room height of five meters and we have been training on the Racewood simulator for two weeks. The children are excited and we have to chase them out of the gym. Last week, we trained on it every day for four hours, even during the weekend, as we had a training camp. We combine the trainer with training on live horses."
What are the benefits of a vaulting machine?
"Training at Racewood is a big step forward for us and training without a simulator and with a simulator cannot be compared at all. The trainees go through the individual sets several times in a row during one training, which is not realistic on a live horse. It is a huge contribution to the performance growth of exercisers. The trainer will also allow you to expand the number of children playing sports. There is currently interest in vaulting, but the number of horses in the club did not allow to accept new children. In September, we will organize the recruitment of new trainees, we plan to take about ten children."
The initial cost of buying the trainer was high, but the costs of its operation and maintenance are minimal and negligible compared to the cost of keeping horses. In addition to domestic vaulters, vaulting riders from other clubs will also be able to use it for the training process. Due to the long-term life of the simulator, it will serve children and youth from Košice and the surrounding area for a good twenty years.
