A handy helper in the mountains

The application of the Mountain Rescue Service can speed up the rescue operation.

Autumn is the perfect time for hiking. However, anything can happen on the way through the mountains, so it is good to have a reliable helper at hand. Did you know that the Mountain Rescue Service (HZS) offers such a handy helper in the form of an app?

Tourists can find all the necessary information in one place. Its main functions include:

Calling for help with one button: In case of emergency, you can call for help easily and quickly. The app shares your location with rescuers and provides other important information that can speed up the rescue operation. It will connect you with the Mountain Rescue Service even if your operator's signal is weak and you cannot make a phone call. An emergency message with your location will be sent via SMS, which requires less signal than a call. The interesting thing is that an internet connection is not required for the proper functioning of the system.

Electronic book of walks and hikes: Before each hike, you can write down the planned route in the application. If you don't return from the hike, the witchdoctors will know where to look for you.

Guardian Angel function: It will help find you, even if you can no longer call for help yourself. During the time you specify when activating this function, the application will store the last three points of your movement.

Up-to-date warnings and alerts: The app provides up-to-date mountain weather information, avalanche warnings and other important alerts.

Map with marked places of interest: Thanks to the map, you can find the nearest rescue stations, infirmaries, mountain huts, automatic external defibrillators and other important places.

Basics of first aid: The application also contains basic information on the provision of first aid, which can be decisive in the event of an accident.

In addition to Slovakia, the Mountain Rescue Service application also works in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Austria. All information can be found on the website:
