On Saturday, May 30, we invite all lovers of the historic railway, all those who want to contribute to the development of our unique and the only functional steam children's railway in Central Europe, to the brigade, which is part of the volunteer activity Steelmakers for Košice.
The reward is not only a beautiful feeling of meaningfully done work, but also a fantastic mood, a meeting with colleagues and volunteers from the Children's Railway, who always know how to create a perfect team. So far, even bad weather has not stopped us, which in the end, looking at the determined people willing to help, has always become wiser and what we have embarked on, we have finished.
What awaits us this year?
At the Čermeľ station, we will renovate the switch signals, renew the driver's cabin on the Janka locomotive, clean the drainage channel from deposited leaves and sediments.
At the Alpinka station, we will renovate the wooden elements of the trolley depot, replace the old damaged benches, renovate the mining locomotive and complete the terrace by the trolley oval, including covered seating, install safety fencing around the platform at the trolley oval and take care of the maintenance of the grassy areas in the Alpinka area.
On the railway line itself, we will remove self-seeded trees and branches interfering with the crossing profile of the line.
Registration for the event will be open on Tuesday 28th April.
