The planting of the linden alley in April 2024 on the occasion of Earth Day had a clear goal: to beautify the entrance to the company, improve the environment and create a more pleasant space for employees and visitors. Every tree is precious – it represents years of growth, care and investment. That's why we put the maximum into planting.
The trees were planted in a large root ball, in good condition and with support stakes that stabilized them. To avoid damage by the technique, clear rules for mowing have been determined. In the autumn of 2025, an inspection and treatment against game damage was carried out, in the winter another check of the condition of the trees. During the extreme heat, firefighters were also involved in the care, regularly watering the trees to survive periods of drought.
Climate change complicates the adoption of trees, long droughts, extreme heat and sudden weather fluctuations make it increasingly difficult for young trees to take hold. Even with proper care, their growth is more difficult and slower. This makes it all the more important to protect them from other risks.
Vandalism has no boundaries
Despite all the measures, problems appeared that we did not expect. Vandalism, which gradually worsened. First, the support pegs disappeared, then the breaking off of the crowns of the trees began, some linden trees had damaged bark or main shoots, several trees were destroyed repeatedly. Today, the situation is critical: the trees are without pegs and with broken crowns, which significantly threatens their growth and survival.
A challenge for employees
We ask all employees to pay attention to their surroundings. If you notice suspicious behavior or damage to trees, immediately notify your supervisor or the relevant authorities. Your mindfulness can prevent further damage.
We are not giving up on Linden Alley
The trees will be professionally treated. Many of them will sprout again, below the site of damage, but it will take longer to recover. They will need more time, care and shape correction. Some pieces may need to be replaced later.
How to protect them?
It is essential to adopt a combination of technical, organisational and community-based measures.
- Increase surveillance, introduce regular inspections, use the camera that is installed in the parking lot.
- Reinstall the pins and protective meshes.
- Ask employees not to be indifferent to what is happening.
- Place information boards.
We believe that with the help of employees and better measures, we will be able to restore what was destroyed.
Thank you for your help.
