We are happy to do all long-term projects of U. S. Steel Košice, which are designed to support the community. One of the dearest is certainly the one in which we help the families of our colleagues who, due to fate, have found themselves in a difficult life situation.
In December, we will open its thirteenth chapter. Over the years, we have helped 140 families with different destinies. Most often these were families with sick children, but also the wives of our colleagues who left us prematurely and were left alone to raise small children. In the project, we also had the families of colleagues who were unable to work for a long time due to a serious illness.
Helping families is not just a one-time financial support. All of them greatly appreciate the attention and support they receive throughout the year. Every year, we prepare various small events just for them, where they meet, get to know each other, make friends, and those with similar fates can advise and help each other. Many have become friends, and we consider many to be friends.
The first meeting together is always a joint Christmas dinner, where children receive dream gifts from the employees, who take cards with their wishes from the symbolic Christmas tree. This was also the case last year. This was followed by cheering on the hockey players of HC Košice at the match, to which the families were invited by the WIN Women's Network. We spent a nice, joint weekend at Zlatá Idka, where not only the children, but also their parents, participated in various fun, sports competitions, created their own works in the creative workshop and used their free time for walks in nature.
Everyone who came for a summer, early evening walk to the zoo praised not only the interesting atmosphere, the excellent guide, who really knew a lot about animals, but also the evening roasting of sausages.
At the end of the summer, the families accepted an invitation to an event in the Sports and Entertainment Complex, which we organized for children from children's homes and, of course, we invited them to it as well.
We will meet twice more before the end of the year. We will go to hockey together again, and then at the beginning of December we will say goodbye to those who are ending the project.
We will definitely miss Michaela Vagaš and her two beautiful sons Teo and Timon, who did not miss a single event. Also the family of Imrich Szilágyi and their son Samko, who has undergone an incredible transformation in two years. And we will also be sad for the Beneš family with their daughter Lianka and little Tobias, who became the youngest addition to our small team. And we will also say goodbye to the sympathetic Urban and Kurilka families and the girls Laura, Sofia, Ema and Gabriela.
Another 6 families will continue in the project for the second year: the Azari family, the Bobkovci family, the Veliki family, the Tarnóci family and the families of Jana Zlacká and Iveta Vysokayová, whose husbands, our colleagues, left us forever more than a year ago.
The families of Dominik Szaniszló from the maintenance of the Coking Plant Plant, Jaroslav Baroš, who works at OD 1, Lukáš Petrus from the Cold Rolling Mill expedition, Erik Sládek from the Energetika Plant, Jozef Hunyady from the Technical Diagnostic Equipment Reliability Department also accepted the invitation to the We Are With You at the Right Time 2025 project . The twelfth will be the family of Iveta Sijková, whose husband Jaroslav worked at DZ Doprava and died in May this year.
And one more thing is beautiful and invaluable in connection with our project. And that is the mindfulness and empathy of colleagues who are not indifferent to the fate of other people, and that is why they contacted us during the year and drew our attention to those we could invite to the project. Therefore, we would like to thank especially Štefan Fiľakovský, Head of the Maintenance Operation of the Coking Plant, Juraj Prokein, Director of the Mechanica Mine and Juraj Varga, Chairman of the RO OZ KOVO U. S. Steel Košice.
We are also very pleased with the support this project receives from our Vice-Presidents Elena Petrašková and Silvia Gaálová, Vice-President Marcel Novosad and Brigita Kurucová from the Women's Network (WIN). They always find time, help us and come to our events for families.
In the project We Are With You at the Right Time 2025, we will have 12 families who have a total of 18 children. Although there are still a few weeks left until Christmas, we are slowly starting to collect children's wishes, which we write on cards and soon we will hang them on the X App on our symbolic Tree of Wishes.
