Thanks to our lunches, they will have a nicer Easter

We delivered the majority of the lunches to the facilities of the Archdiocesan Charity Košice yesterday. Clients of the Crisis Center for Mothers with Children in Košická Nová Ves and the Charity House of St. Elizabeth each received three lunches.

The first stop was Košická Nová Ves, where Miroslav Firda was already waiting for us, along with the facility's employees, who helped with the lunches.

"I am very glad that you did not forget us and brought lunches for our clients. Three lunches will be enough for them for longer than three days, also because we have many small children who cannot eat their entire lunch at once. It will help them a lot, because with the money they save on food, they will be able to treat themselves to some Easter treats. For them, it is a really big financial saving," said Miroslav Firda.

Easter is spent by mothers with their children in private, in their rooms. The crisis center workers try to help families who they see really don't have money, so they buy them at least some small Easter treats. On Sunday morning, they go to church to bless the baskets, and then they are in their rooms. The clients provide their own food. There are several kitchenettes in the facility.

Up to 80 percent of mothers have small children, so they are on maternity leave and cannot look for work.

The lunches were brought by colleagues from Delirest: Kamil Kollarčík (right), Vladimír Balog (second from left) and Miroslav Angelovič. Vladimír Balog was with us when we handed out lunches at the crisis center for the first time. After learning about the financial situation of the mothers and their 70 children, he decided to “turn it around” once more, and on his way home from work he did so, bringing the children sweets donated by the Delirest company.

The second stop was the Charity House of St. Elizabeth on Bosákova, which provides accommodation for 82 homeless people. They also received three lunches (soups and main courses).

The Easter holidays began in this facility just yesterday. After the mass, a small feast followed. Smoked pork neck, sausage, ham, beets and horseradish were served.

"Everyone experiences Easter in their own way. Clients buy and cook their own food. So the three lunches they received from you will help them significantly. They are always very happy when they receive a portion of lunches from you before the holidays," said Ľuba Šofová from the charity house.

Of the total number of 689 donated lunches, 96 portions remain. Their colleagues from Delirest will deliver them to the Crisis Center for Mothers with Children in Košická Nová Ves after the holidays, at the end of next week.
