This week, our seniors from the Autumn of Life took part in the 11th year of the Summer Olympics of Seniors of the City of Košice.
About 200 participants from 32 senior clubs came to the event at the Sports and Entertainment Complex on Alejová. There were five disciplines: throwing a cricket ball at circular targets, throwing a ball at a pyramid made of cans, throwing a basketball at a basket, hitting a cricket ball into the goal with a floorball stick and kicking into the goal.
Autumn of Life was represented by a group of 10 competitors in two teams and encouraged by a large group of fans. Our seniors literally had a harvest, when they collected a total of 6 awards for one third, three second and two first places.
The diploma for the third place in the throw of the ball on the pyramid of cans was awarded to Miroslav Brožek. The second place and a diploma in the basket ball throw category was won by Juraj Kolesár, the second place in the category of hitting the ball with a floorball stick was won by Vladimír Šandrik and the second place in the ball throw at the circular target was taken by Vladimír Antol from the competition. In the kick to the goal, Emília Košická won in the women's category and the first place in the same discipline in the men's category was won by Štefan Demko.
"Seniors from other clubs were already upset that we would be the only one to collect all the awards," says the proud head of the club, Anna Havierová, who was the judge in the throw of the ball at the pyramid from cans, with a smile.
The second round of the Olympics will take place in the fall and the winning club will take home the Mayor's Cup. The Autumn of Life club won this cup last year.
