Milan Sciranka is the man in the right place

Milan Sciranka has been working in the ironworks since 1983. The beginnings of his work are associated with blast furnace No. 1, where he worked at the foundry as a locksmith. After gaining the necessary professional experience, he became an inspection locksmith and later a foreman. Since the end of 2019, he has been working as a maintenance foreman at DZ Blast Furnaces.

"I trained at an apprenticeship, so it was natural that I came to work in the ironworks. My more famous brother, who retired last year – Jožko Sciranko, who is three years older than me, also worked here. And my other brother Rudolf, who is also retired, also worked here," says Milan about his family's connection with the ironworks. And this would not be complete without his son Milan, who works in the agglomeration.

When she remembers her work, she always puts the team first: "We have good relationships, we can talk about all sorts of things.  On the stoves, it's like on a swing – once up, once down. We are waiting to see what the next development will be. We solve many things, so to speak, on the fly.  I never postpone any problems for "later" and I have always managed to come to a successful conclusion. And with a good feeling when we manage to do the work quickly, well and safely."

His brother Jožek is known to the ironworkers as a great athlete, marathon runner, graduate of demanding cross-country skiing races. Does Milan share this passion?

"I don't run marathons, I like football and cross-country skiing. For years, I also participated in corporate winter and sports games. My fitness is already declining a bit, but I still go to the races at Kojšovka," says Milan.

What do his colleagues and family say about the Loyalty at Work Award, which was awarded to him?

"My family is happy with me, my brothers know that I am not doing an easy job. And my son is also proud of me, as well as my daughter Veronika and my wife Ľuboslava. It is also thanks to their support in life that I received such an award today."

As for his colleagues, they wish him the award. They were also intensely interested in the preparation for the ceremony itself, sewing the uniform ....

One of them - Samuel Steranka, head of the Maintenance Operation of DZ Blast Furnaces, evaluates him as follows: "Milan is one of the most experienced and reliable employees at the ÚVP. He has been faithful to our divisional team continuously, since he joined in 1983. He is the support of the team, he is proactive in finding solutions and improving technical matters and working conditions, as well as in training new employees in practice and introducing them into the work process. Since he was a child, he has been involved in sports, especially football, and he brought this hobby to our plant. Milan is always willing to help his colleagues and those around him. Last but not least, he is a friendly type of person and a guy in the right place."
