Good has its place in the wardrobe

As part of the event Steelmakers for Košice, a collection of material aid for people in need was held during both volunteer days. It was organized by the Archdiocesan Charity of Košice, which distributes donated items through its facilities to those who find themselves in difficult life situations.

The collection took place in two places, in the premises of the Archdiocesan Charity and also in the civic association Jeseň života, where our former colleagues, retired steelmakers, actively helped. As they say, they have the time and opportunity, so every year they receive, sort and pack donated items in the premises of the civic association. We can no longer imagine a charity collection without them.

Colleagues from the purchasing department also donated useful items. Patrícia Huňady brought children's clothing and shoes, which will certainly find use in the Crisis Center for Mothers with Children in Košická Nová Ves. Mária Kurucová brought practical items: "Donating things is a natural expression of solidarity with those who are dependent on help. We do it from the heart and quite naturally."

Over the course of two days, 85 bags of clothing, shoes, and other necessities, such as toiletries, nonperishable food, and bedding, were collected. The items collected from both collection points will help individuals and families in need, including homeless people, seniors, and single mothers.

“We are grateful that even today, belonging and caring for others still have their place among people. This collection has shown that volunteering and giving have a living tradition and strength at U. S. Steel Košice,” added Silvia Hrabčáková on behalf of the Košice charity.
