Beds for Refugees

The Foundation of U. S. Steel Košice will donate folding beds worth almost 169,000 euros to the city.

Until now 800 beds were delivered. The last delivery arrived Monday and additional 350 beds were already ordered; they should be delivered by the end of April.

In total, 1,150 beds will be delivered to the city. We asked Roman Dohovič, delegate of the City of Košice for humanitarian aid for refugees from Ukraine and partnership town Uzhorod, where they will be used. “One hundred beds were used for short-term overnight stays of refugees in the former swimming pool facility, 15 beds were loaned to the University of P. J. Šafárik for the patient center they created on Medická Street, and 350 beds are planned to be handed over as humanitarian aid to the city of Uzhorod. Other beds (685) are ready on standby. Should a critical situation arise, we will deploy them in emergency accommodation, gyms, and the like. We are very grateful and appreciate this help.”
