Job description:

We are looking for a colleague to join our strategic procurement team who is looking for a meaningful challenge at USSK, the largest flat rolled steel producer in Central Europe. In addition to the variety of work and the dynamics of the environment, you can look forward to direct cooperation with diverse internal teams (operations, finance, logistics, etc).

Category Manager provides necessary Procurement agenda to support local procurement efforts and the plant in achieving optimal levels of Safety, Quality, Productivity and Delivery to assure best results for internal customers.

Responsibilities and duties

Category Manager will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the company´s mission, vision, values and goals in performance of daily activities while ensuring adherence to its standards, guidelines and business ethics.
  • Developing strong knowledge of the group´s environment, marketplace, procurement terminology as well as plant operations.
  • Planning resources.
  • Transparency returning all important information to internal and external customers.
  • Preparation and management of tenders, analysis of suppliers' bids offers and subsequently propose recommendations for management decisions.
  • Direct contact with suppliers
  • Following market and price trends and apply the given knowledge to make reasonable purchasing decisions.
  • Creation of procurement strategies in cooperation with the strategic procurement manager and key internal stakeholders.
  • Contract management
  • Project gateways preparation and presentation to project committees in accordance with the internal project development rules and processes.
  • Managing risks, issues and priorities.

  • Knowledge of key cost drivers, Total costs of ownership analysis.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Conduct joint improvement activities (primarily with operations, Engineering and Research).
  • Develop suppliers‘ technical availabilities.

Other Skills:

  • Additional business-related work or related experience in operations service would be beneficial.
  • Procurement/Sales experience preferred.
  • Computer literacy with a working skill level in Microsoft Office products is required.
