Today, March 10, Ľubomír Račko, Director of Data Studio Europe, launched the SmartSteelShop project: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Guided Optimization and Control Models for Steel Production Processes.
The Technical University of Košice and our company received funds in the amount of EUR 975,650 for this project from the Recovery and Knowledge Economy Plan.
The introductory meeting was attended by representatives of the Technical University of Košice, Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy and Recycling, led by Branislav Buľko, Director of the Institute of Metallurgical Technologies and Digital Transformation. On behalf of our company, colleagues from primary production, led by Eduard Juhan from DZ Oceliareň, research and innovation under the leadership of Gabriel Tréfa and from Data Studio Europe, were present.
Branislav Buľko described the goals of the project and introduced the leaders of the individual teams involved in the project for the Technical University of Košice and U. S. Steel Košice.
The project includes several objectives. The first is to develop conceptual designs of AI-based computing frameworks and models for individual processes, from desulfurization to slab casting, to advance operational efficiency and process sustainability. The second objective is to formulate a conceptual design of an integrated multidimensional AI optimizer adapted to steel production (equally from desulfurization to steel casting into slabs) and also to develop a conceptual design of a corresponding test and simulation model. The third goal is to select and professionally train specialized personnel for the use of digitization and artificial intelligence in steel production processes at U. S. Steel Košice.
Iveta Vasková, Peter Demeter and Branislav Buľko are team leaders for the Technical University, Diana Klimonová and Ján Tkačík for our company.
We will keep you informed about how the SmartSteelShop project is progressing.
