Peter Mojzis's quiet perseverance and sense of duty

" Peter Mojzis  works with quiet perseverance, driven by his own sense of duty. However, the true strength of his character is especially evident in moments when deadlines are approaching or an unexpected crisis occurs. In situations where others are panicking, Peter Moses maintains a stoic calm. His responsibility is not just a word in his biography, but an attitude to life. He never leaves the work in progress and does not leave his colleague in a tight spot. If a mistake occurs, he does not ask who is to blame, but immediately looks for a solution. He is the kind of person whose word is worth its weight in gold. And when they say that something is done, no one has the need to check the result. He is a colleague who not only supports us with professional advice, but with his exemplary approach discreetly motivates the whole neighborhood to be more consistent. Having someone like Peter Mojzis in the team is not only a practical advantage, but a real benefit for the entire operation," this is how Richard Glosner, Executive Manager for Maintenance of PF and HSM, evaluates his colleague.

On  Friday, September 11, Peter Mojzis, together with eight other steelworkers, also received the highest departmental award – the badge of the Minister of Economy For Work Loyalty.

Peter works as an inspection locksmith in the pusher furnaces of DP Hot Strip Mill (DZ Tepla valcovna). Its task is to take care of the machinery, which includes the four pusher furnaces and the associated equipment such as slab tables and slab pusher. He is responsible for their reliable operation.

Already at school, he knew what he wanted to do in life

When asked if he enjoys this job, he replied as follows:  "I have liked this job since school. Although it sometimes has its pitfalls.  The most difficult thing is to work with people. Some employees from supplier companies often go unprepared and inexperienced, and when you add failures in equipment that need to be identified and then repaired in the shortest possible time, all this together causes stress. I like the feeling of a job well done the most when I see a piece of work behind me, equipment repaired and running without failure. I like to remember the construction of the new pusher furnace no. 1, the good feeling when we finished and started it. I work a lot with my colleagues bricklayers from RMS company, with the external company ESZO and with colleagues from Eco Next company in repairing furnaces. Friendliness towards them usually comes back to me."

Others at swimming pools, him at work

Peter Mojzis's colleagues congratulated him on the award, according to them it is well deserved and they see years of quality work and many evenings spent on the drawing documentation of the hammering furnaces. He often spent a significant part of the summer at work during repairs. While other families spent hot days at swimming pools, he was at work, because summer is a time of repairs in a warm rolling mill. It was quite difficult, even if they wanted to go on vacation with their family, they had to adapt to the requirements of his work. Over time, they got used to it: "They know that I'm a handyman and my job is also about the fact that when others are resting, I have to work. It was difficult while Maťko was still alive."

Grief over the loss of his son, his daughter makes him happy

We knew Peter Mojzis and his family well. In 2019 and 2020, they were part of our project We Are With You at the Right Time. Matko had a serious disability. Nevertheless, it was a cheerful family that did not miss a single meeting or event together. Unfortunately, Matko left forever four years ago. Sadness is still visible on Peter Mojzis's face, they all miss Matko. He is happy with his daughter Marianka, who has grown up to be a beautiful young lady and with her hobby in playing the piano, she makes the moments more pleasant not only for her family. She is 16 years old and finished her 1st year at grammar school. Together with her, Peter goes skiing in our or Polish mountains in winter.

"My wife and Marianka are happy that someone noticed my work and dedication and decided to appreciate it. Although I don't tolerate such speeches and honestly, when my superior told me that he had nominated me for the award, I secretly hoped that they wouldn't choose."

But they chose... And today, of course, he is happy about it.

Peter Mojzis wishes that his work continues to do as well as he has done so far: "That we do not have many worries and failures on the equipment, and that I also have the opportunity to participate in major modernizations and general overhauls of pusher furnaces."
